Nature girl

Taylor and I ditched our normal Tuesday GTL routine and accompanied some friends to the WNC Nature Center yesterday morning. The Nature Center is basically Asheville’s zoo, except instead of exotic animals from different countries, it holds a bunch of creatures native to western North Carolina. Meaning instead of elephants and giraffes, the critters on display are bobcats and black bears. But, Hey, a giant furry animal is a giant furry animal, and the Nature Center is only six minutes from our front door, so both Taylor and I were thrilled to spend the morning there.

The annual summer butterfly exhibit was on display, and Taylor and her little friend were doused with sugar-water when they entered the tent in order to attract winged-creatures. It was pretty adorable watching her interacting with the butterflies, with her attitude being a mix of amazement and Oh-My-GOD-there’s-a-BUG-on-me!

And after eating a picnic lunch and running a few more laps around the steaming hot park, my sweaty, little critter was officially exhausted. Yes, we definitely had a fun morning exploring the displayed-wilds of WNC, and with the pool closing in just a few weeks I have a feeling we’ll be back there soon.
