Not that I mind her being in the sling. It’s comfortable, stylish and great to have her so close. But have you ever tried to cook dinner with a newborn strapped to your chest? Cutting veggies, boiling noodles and getting things in and out of the oven have become an interesting challenge. One bonus is that my thighs are getting super-toned from squatting down to get things out of the fridge. Plus I’ve learned to cut my prep-time down significantly. If I was on the Food Network, my show would be called 20-Minute Meals while wearing a baby and short-shorts. Take that, Rachel Ray.

Our bullet in the chamber
So I mentioned last week that Taylor has fallen into the routine of having a total meltdown around dinner time every night. No changes there. Don’t get me wrong, she is an absolute angel during the day and I L-O-V-E my child… but five o’clock comes and you’d think I stuck her with pins. One comfort that always seems to work is to put her in the baby sling and wear her. Chris refers to it as the bullet in the chamber, our last resort. We’ll try rocking her, swinging her and singing to her, and if all else fails, put her in the sling.

Way to go mama Brooke!! I'm impressed. I remember thinking I was quite good when I managed to load the washing machine and empty the dryer all while holding a child but you've got me beat, chopping veggies AND using the oven at the same time, now THAT is super mama!
Ah, yes, wearing the baby. I had those days. I think Taylor looks lovely on you!
Lillian did the same thing. Try turning on the vacum!
you are both so beautiful! your photography is great with the new camera! love the cicada, love chris playing guitar. love you all so much!
yes, the vacuum is a good trick for calming babies. They like the noise. My sister did this with Dylan. He cried ALOT! They would turn the vacuum on and prop it up. They went through 2 vacuums doing this.
she looks perfectly content! and you look wonderful! mamma
Rachel Ray has nothing on you! You go girl! The vacum did work for us too just motion realy worked the best.
