And after a few hours of boogying, our dancing queen was too exhausted to stay up for fireworks, so we headed home. And because I was too exhausted to think about cooking, we swung through McDonald’s for dinner, and treated Taylor to her first-ever Happy Meal. And for someone who has only had a steady diet of organic, natural food, of course she was a happy, happy little girl to get her first taste of the dark side.
And while she has had tastes of fries at restaurants before, she had never experienced the heavenly goodness of McDonald’s crispy, delicious, deep-fried, salty fries. She ate them like they were beef jerky, holding a single fry in her chubby hands and aggressively chomping off each bite. Not to mention there was a cheap, plastic toy involved.
I don’t know who enjoyed the Happy Meal more, her or us being able to watch her. It was hilarious. And afterwards, when she fell into her fast-food sleep coma, we stayed up, had another beer, and listened to the giant booms of everyone setting off fireworks. It was the best Fourth we’ve ever had.

Happy Birthday to America & Taylor...hahaha! That is too cute!
Too funny!!! McDonald's fries as the best even tho the rest of their food is gross! Glad you had a wonderful 4th with your family!!
Happy 1st "real" 4th and 1st Happy Meal! I think that I probably look a lot like Taylor when I eat McDonald's fries! They are simply the best!
I am so glad to hear you all enjoyed your 4th festivities TOGETHER! I have to agree with Amy, as McD's fries are the best; the only other thing I could swallow there would be a Coke!
I remember when Ava had her first happy meal...so funny. Those little cheeseburgers look so big next to them!
Those fries are more American than anything! Watching Taylor eat them is too cute. You can tell her brain is like, "I don't know what these are but they are fantastic!"
Yep, the Apple Pie has been replaced by the McDonalds Fry.
It was a patriotic meal. Don't feel bad. Soon you will have a collection of cheap plastic toys. I know WE do.
